Released to mark the 65th anniversary of the release of John Coltrane’s only album for Blue Note as a leader, “Blue Train: The Complete Masters” includes a pristine stereo pressing of the original album plus a second disc featuring seven alternate and incomplete takes of the title track, “Moment’s Notice” and “Lazy Bird.” None of these versions have been released previously on vinyl and four have never been released before on any format. It also includes a booklet featuring never-before-seen session photos by Francis Wolff and an essay by Coltrane expert Ashley Kahn. A must-have for all Coltrane fanatics.
