Blossom Dearie

Born in East Durham, NY, Blossom Dearie moved to Paris, where she had a french-language hit with her group Les Blue Stars. But it was when she moved back to New York and recorded as a solo artist for Verve that she really gained recognition. Her run of solo albums marked her out as a singular vocalist with impeccable phrasing, witty lyrics and charming whimsical delivery. She also appeared on children’s TV, and created her own record label Daffodil Records. Her music has a timeless quality and has gone on to influence many contemporary jazz vocalists.
