Charlie Hunter (1967) is a highly regarded composer and virtuoso guitarist known for his mastery of his custom-made seven and eight-string guitars.

Charlie Hunter

Born in Rhode Island, Hunter developed his mind-boggling technique by listening to Joe Pass and Tuck Andress. He combines bass, chords and melodies at the same time, which gives the illusion of a larger ensemble. In the early 1990s he played with Michael Franti’s The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy. Always pushing boundaries, his album “Natty Dread” reimagines the music of Bob Marley in bold new forms. Hunter is also a serial collaborator, and has played with artists such as Norah Jones, Mos Def and D’Angelo.
