Ethan Iverson (born 1973) is an American pianist, composer and music critic who was part of the revered avant-jazz trio The Bad Plus.

Born in Wisconsin, Iverson studied piano with Fred Hersch and Sophia Rosoff. He became the musical director of the Mark Morris Dance Group, before forming The Bad Plus with Reid Anderson on bass and David King on drums. The group eventually evolved into a quartet and became famous for their innovative mix of progressive jazz with influences from contemporary rock, pop and electronic music. The Bad Plus released many lauded albums in the 2000s and 2010s. Since leaving the group in 2017, Iverson has been focusing on his own recordings for ECM and Blue Note. His writings on music and culture have been published in The New Yorker, NPR, and The Nation.
