Grant Green (1935–1979) was an American guitarist known for his highly melodic style.

Green was heavily influenced by bebop, gospel, and R&B, and he liked to play with organists such as Big John Patton, Baby Face Willette and Gloria Coleman. He recorded prolifically for Blue Note in the 1960s, producing stand out albums like “Green Street”, “The Latin Bit” and “Idle Moments”. Despite a large catalogue as a band leader and an impressive list of sideman projects, Green was under-appreciated during his short lifetime. However the heavy sampling of his late career funk and R&B output earned him the moniker of the “Godfather of Acid Jazz”.
