Hank Mobley (1930–1986) was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Considered one of the central tenor saxophonists of modern jazz.

Hank Mobley

Mobley’s sound was driven by warm tone, fluid phrasing, and irresistibly swinging melodic lines. And yet, his compositions always possessed a deeply personal, haunted quality, the kind only an old soul can produce. Many of Mobley's compositions, such as "Soul Station" and "This I Dig of You," became jazz standards, and his collaborations with Art Blakey, Horace Silver, and Lee Morgan left an indelible mark on the Blue Note Records catalogue. Hank Mobley passed away on May 30th, 1986, a decade after his most prolific era.
