Irreversible Entanglements are an American free jazz quintet that first formed in 2015, acclaimed for their fusion of avant-garde experimentalism and politically charged messages.

Irreversible Entanglements

Irreversible Entanglements are based in New York and consist of vocalist Camae Ayewa (also known as Moor Mother), bassist Luke Stewart, drummer Tcheser Holmes, Aquiles Navarro on trumpet and Keir Neuringer on saxophone. They met in Brooklyn at an event organised by Musicians Against Police Brutality, and subsequent instrumental recordings combined with Ayewa’s powerful spoken word passages have found a wide audience. In 2023, they recorded their fifth album “Protect Your Light'' for Impulse! at Rudy Van Gelder’s Englewood Cliffs studio.
