Sarah Vaughan
Sarah Vaughan has become world-renowned for her wide vocal range and expressive phrasing. After she got discovered at the Apollo in Harlem, she went on tour with the Earl Hines Big Band, which featured fellow greats like Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker. In the mid-1940s, Sarah Vaughan embarked on a solo career that culminated in decades of jazz fame and mainstream success. Her renditions of standards like “Autumn in New York”, “Misty”, and “Lullaby of Birdland” are still amongst the most popular vocal jazz recordings ever.
