The fourth album by London’s Sons Of Kemet continues to draw together strands of music from the African diaspora, weaving together jazz, soca, R&B and grime to create a 21st century sound that’s dynamic and urgent while always joyous and danceable. Here, too, the socio-political message underpinning the music is more direct and confrontational than ever. Previous collaborator, poet Joshua Idehen returns, bookending the album with powerful meditations on colonialism and Black oppression, and the album features vocal performances from singers and rappers from both the UK (Kojey Radical, D Double E) and the US (Moor Mother, Angel Bat Dawid).
