Expanding on the jazz harp legacy of Dorothy Ashby and Alice Coltrane, Brandee Younger (born 1983) has become one of the brightest talents of her generation.
With a highly adaptable sound and virtuosic style of playing, Younger became a go-to harp player for spiritually minded jazz greats like Pharoah Sanders, Charlie Haden or Bill Lee, but was equally embraced by hip-hop and R&B artists from Lauryn Hill to Moses Sumney and The Roots. Alongside bass player Dezron Douglas, and as the leader of her own quartet, Brandee Younger has acclaimed releases on Blue Note, Impulse!, and International Anthem to her name.
